Yoga

Though I have practiced varying forms of yoga for over 20 years, it is only when I took my first class with Janet Evans ( http://www.yogajanam.com ) in 2014 that my desire to teach began to grow. I have been attending classes as well as having private lessons ever since with Janet and I am about to complete The Art of Teaching Yoga with Sadhana Mala, in Somerset. ( http://www.sadhanamala.com ).

The tradition I teach from is based on the teachings of TKV Desikachar, the son and long-term student of TK Krishnamacharya and it is sometimes called Viniyoga.

The success of Yoga does not lie in the ability to perform postures but in how it positively changes the way we live our life and our relationships.

Some characteristics of this approach are:

  • A focus on the breath
  • Its suitability for people of all ages and abilities through using adaptations and modifications of the postures.
  • The intelligent sequencing of postures, making it a very safe way to practice.
  • The use of dynamic and static work.
  • The thorough training of teachers ensuring their thorough knowledge and safe practice in teaching.
